Former President Trump is considering launching his own social media platform soon Jason Miller revealed on Saturday.
The news came from Miller’s appearance on Breitbart News Saturday on Sirius XM 125, the Patriot Channel. This comes after Trump was permanently banned from Twitter and Facebook.
Miller was asked what Trump plans to do next. “I would expect that we will see the president reemerge on social media.” “Whether that’s joining an existing platform or creating his new platform, there are a number of different options and a number of different meetings that they’ve been having on that front. Nothing is imminent on that.”
When asked about what a Trump social network would look like, Miller was circumspect but said the former president is considering launching his own competitor to Silicon Valley tech giants or joining existing new platforms.
“All options are on the table,” Miller said. “A number of things are being discussed. Stay tuned there because you know he’s going to be back on social media. We’re just kind of figuring out which avenue makes the most sense.”
Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sheryl Sandberg told NBC’s News “no plans ” to lift Trump’s ban anytime soon. This was mid-January before Biden’s inauguration.
Twitter’s ban on the former president is permanent. “I do not celebrate or feel pride in our having to ban @realDonaldTrump from Twitter, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey explained in a thread, adding “I believe this was the right decision for Twitter.”
If Trump builds his own platform, it would be a massive undertaking. Requiring massive investment and technological infrastructure. With the support from 75 million Americans who voted for him in 2020 and his personality, it could end up being successful.
Trump told Breitbart News in August of last year “100 percent” Twitter, Facebook and Google are attempting to control information that the Americans see. “Do you have a doubt?” Trump said when asked if big tech companies are trying to control the information flow to the public.
“The tech companies are very dishonest about that and about free speech,” Trump told Breitbart News. “It could be a big problem for them at the appropriate time.”
